School Life

Beyond the Bell

Plymouth Meeting Friends School offers a before- and after-school program to provide a low-key, safe, and fun environment for children during non-school hours. These programs are collectively called Beyond the Bell (BtB).

Early Care

Early Care is provided beginning at 7:30 am, before classrooms open at 7:45am. There is no fee for this service and registration is not required. In 2023-2024, the location is in the downstairs of Journey's End.

After-School Care

Beyond the Bell, or BtB, is our after school program. With BtB, families will have the option to pay-in-full for the year or to be billed daily for drop-in days.

After-School Care (3:00 – 6:00 pm weekdays) is designed to provide children across all grades with an unstructured after-school experience, similar to living in a community with a big backyard and many neighbors with whom to play. The program includes an afternoon snack, pick-up games of soccer and basketball, craft making, board games, fort building, nature play, and free play. There is also an optional period of supervised homework.

After-School Classes

The school also offers five to six week, structured after-school classes. These may be attended as either stand-alone activities or in conjunction with the regular Beyond the Bell program. A student does not need to be enrolled in BtB to enroll in a class.

In 2023-2024, the fee is $125 per class; the classes run from after school to 4:15pm. Classes offered in the past include basketball, soccer, architecture, book club, mixed sports, yoga, science, ceramics, and beekeeping.

There are also ongoing enrichment program opportunities with individual teachers.

Vacation Care

Vacation Care is offered on some school holidays, professional development days, and during parts of winter and spring break. On days it is open, Vacation Care is available 8:00 am – 6:00 pm and based in the Little House building.

Similar to After-School Care, Vacation Care provides non-structured, supervised playtime, indoors and out, in a multi-age grouping. Morning snack may be provided depending on the schedule of activities; children bring their own lunch and an afternoon snack.
