Music

Students explore musical concepts and understanding through instrumental play, physical movement, project-based learning, and art.
The Music program fosters a lifelong appreciation and curiosity for music, while building music literacy, vocabulary, and performance. Students learn how to collaborate, express themselves, listen deeply, and respect themselves and others. Through exposure to Western and world music, students learn to value the musical traditions and practices of multiple cultures, all while discovering their own, unique musical voice.

The Music program takes a social-emotional approach to learning; each class period includes intentional time for students to share their feelings, needs, fears, and successes. Performances provide students with an opportunity to have the courage to present what they practice in class. Aiming to reinforce the belief that there is that of God in everyone, the Music program gives ample opportunities for students to build on individual strengths and learn in the way that works best for them.
