Circus
At three performances each Spring, Fourth Grade students put on a polished show for a packed house, complete with unicycling, juggling, skits, songs, wire walking, and trapeze (and more!).
Since 2003, our 4th Graders, under the guidance of teacher Will Starr, have worked together each year to create a unique and spectacular performance featuring a variety of circus arts skills that they start honing in the fall. Students develop perseverance, resilience, physical coordination, and collaboration skills as they learn to unicycle, walk the tight wire, balance on the walking globe, perform aerial tricks on the silk and lyra, and juggle. They also take ownership of much of the production, deciding together how different acts will unfold, moving equipment and props on their own, and always offering a hand to a classmate who needs support. The circus is an annual highlight for our whole community!
