Award-winning Author Visits Plymouth Meeting Friends School
Author, illustrator, and animation director Eric Wight visited Plymouth Meeting Friends School on Tuesday, April 5th to meet with students and talk about his career as a writer and illustrator. Wight is the author of the Frankie Pickle series, a hybrid graphic novel/chapter book collection that chronicles the adventures of grade-schooler Frankie Pickle, who along with sidekick Scottie dog Argyle, uses his imagination to navigate life. Wight visited with Plymouth's youngest students in pre-k (shown here), reading from his book and creating some illustrations. He also met with two groups of older students in the Steinbright Auditorium. Wight was nominated for the 2008 Best Graphic Novel of the Year Award by the Young Adult Library Services Association for his book, My Dead Girlfriend (Tokyopop). In 2004, Wight won the Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award for his illustration work in The Amazing Adventures of the Escapist, the comic book adaptation of Michael Chabon's Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. Wight lives in Pennsylvania with his family.
