Free Program on the Delaware Valley Watershed

Damascus Citizens for Sustainability, a nonprofit organization acting to protect the Delaware River watershed, will present a program:

"Gas Mining - What is there to be worried about?"

This event will take place at Friends Select School on Wednesday, May 12 from 7 to 9 pm. Doors will open at 6:30. The program will inform the public about the environmental effects of gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale. The event is co-sponsored by Protecting Our Waters, Philadelphia.
Presentations will address the effects of gas drilling on the environment in general and how it can affect Philadelphia’s water, the role of the Delaware Basin Commission, the actions of the Philadelphia City Council to protect the city, and what you can do. There will be a video presentation involving Josh Fox, filmmaker of Gasland, the Sundance Film Festival 2010 award winning documentary. A representative from the Philadelphia City Council and the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting will also participate.
The event is free and open to the public. It will be in the auditorium at the Friends Select School, 17th and the Parkway, Philadelphia.
