GPSF Day 2010

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Grandparents & Special Friends Day a great success!

We hosted over 140 guests on Friday, April 9, who enjoyed morning treats, slide shows of the students, and welcoming remarks by Anne Javsicas. They also heard heartfelt stories from Art Schmidt and Aurora Camacho de Schmidt (Nayeli’s grandparents AND former parents of the school), as well as Jill Wacker who played a pivotal role in the development of the new school video, which she kindly introduced.

Following the video, guests joined the students for a morning of games, reading, story-telling, four-square, math projects, musicology, slide shows, cooking, soccer, art, knitting, theatre, and SO much more! THANK YOU to all of the wonderful teachers for making our guests feel right at home!

GPSF Day could not run smoothly without the volunteer help of many. We’d like to especially THANK the following parents who came to help that morning: Jennifer Arms, Maria Beatty, Marialice Dancy, Richard Gallagher, Lisa Gargarella, John Gilliland, Nikla Lancksweert, Felice McSwiggan, Susan Maloney-Kopf, Gabrielle Mangan, Matt Markow, Sam Mickey, Julianne Pitone-Watson, Kimberly Schreffler, Christine Seel-Gallagher, Paula Seitchik, Karen Taratuski, Sue Tressider, and Michelle Westerfer.

And with deepest gratitude to the staff who bravely took on parking duty: Ann Alberts, Dawn Aparin, Mike Green, Ellen Harris, Wayne Homan, Keisha Hutchins-Hirlinger, and Cheryl Rasing.

Finally, to those behind the scenes, setting up, breaking down, and helping to prepare everything in between: Mike Green, Scott McCracken, and Madelyn Ladner (who even beat the sun to school that day): THANK YOU!!

Be sure to check the website soon for a slide show of the day!
