Learning to be a good communicator in today’s world is critical. We are required to think, speak,
and listen in multiple settings with multiple people, near and a far. We must embrace and cross cultural boundaries, as well as maneuver within the familiar, such as our neighborhoods, families and schools. Being a good communicator is critical to every aspect of learning, from science and math to history, art and physical education.
The language arts program at Plymouth Meeting Friends School involves speaking, listening, writing and reading, and through this program we strive to give every individual a voice. We embrace the path that each student takes to find their voice. It is that voice that our students carry on their journeys through the world.
Reading, writing, listening and speaking are also aspects of literacy. In addition to helping students to be good communicators and find their voices, our goal is also to help our students develop a sense of themselves as literate people.
